How Does the GH-K Tool Work?

The GH-K tool is a precision inserted countersink tool with one or three effective cutting edges and large countersink range. Positive geometry allows for high shear cutting action. Carbi

Feed the tool into the part. The blade(s) start cutting once the tip reaches the part. Continue to feed the tool until the desired countersink size is achieved. Then rapid the tool out of the part. The GH-K tool provides precision cut countersinks without chatter due to the shallow radial clearance which may require controlled feed rates. Shims can be added when more aggressive feed rates are required.

Replaceable Blades

Replaceable blades are an economical choice and the GH-K blades can be reground using the available fixture. Three bladed sets are ground in sets and numerically marked and should not be separated. Each blade cuts at the same time reducing any chance of chatter.

 Chamfer Milling

GH-K can be used to conventional mill chamfers around the perimeter of a large hole or the entire part. The short radial clearance reduces chatter and improves surface finish. Three bladed tools are suited for manual or CNC applications while the economical single bladed tool is designed for all machining centers.

 Large Chamfer Range

GH-K tooling can be used for hole sizes as small as 1/8” (3mm) diameter and product countersinks as large as 1 ¾” (45mm) diameter. Standard tooling is available from stock.

Front and back spotfacing and formsinking tool. The SOLO tool functions reliably without an anti-rotation device, change of spindle rotation, coolant pressure or contact mechanism. The SOLO tool is immediately ready for operation on any machine (CNC, transfer, multi-spindle or conventional machine).

The completely closed tool design (tool head) prevents any coolant contamination. In addition, the pin driven cutting blade, which moves in and out radially, prevents chips from jamming the system.

How Does the SOLO Tool Work?

There are two different models of the SOLO tool, the SOLO 1900 and the SOLO 2. Each tool is capable of reaching counterbore sizes two times the bore diameter minus 1mm. Possible applications up to 30mm through hole. (Max ratio = Ødx2 – 1mm).

The SOLO 1900 uses two centrifugal weights installed in a sealed tool head with an activation speed rate of 1900 rpm, the weights start moving outwards and turn the gearwheel. The gearwheel drives the blade out by rotating the blade control. When the spindle is stopped, a pull back spring pushes the centrifugal weights back to the center and retracts the blades.

The SOLO 2 uses similar parts, but works in the opposite way. With an activation speed rate of 2000 rpm or higher, the blades retract when the centrifugal weights move. When the spindle rotation is below 1500 RPM, the weights are pushed back to the center and the blade is fixed in the cutting position.

Modular Cutting Tool with Coolant Through

Each GH-Z Reverser System is modular and is available with coolant through the center. Each unit consists of a tool head, control, housing and cuttin glbade or Cassette with indexable cutting inserts. There are three standard tool heads with weldon shanks. V-tapers adaptations or other precision HSK or ABS shanks are optional. The housing, controland cutting blade configuration is designed specifically for each hole and counterbore application to guarantee the strongest tool possible.

Large Ratio Cuts

Counterbore sizes are capable of reaching 2 times the bore diameter minus 1mm in almost any material and part configuration. Close tolerance insert cartridge holders and housing pockets have proven to add rigidity for exceptional surface finishes even in interrupted cuts. Large ratios require a single cutter for added stability.

How Does the GH-Z/E Tool Work?

The compact tool head contains the mechanical control for blade activation. The integrated braking system, which is fixed by the anti-rotation device to the machine, guarantees a defined position of the blades. Depending on spindle rotation, the cutting blades will extend or retract perpendicular to the bore axis. Pass through the bore with counterclockwise rotation. After the blades pass beyond the workpiece and any side wall, active the spindle clockwise. The blades extend automatically. Feed back into the work piece to counterbore depth, push out of the bore and reverse the spindle to retract the cutting blades. The back spotface is now finished.
